Sweetwater, Texas, to Ethel Bain
and Robert C. Neeper. His parents
divorced at an early age and
his mother moved to Lubbock,
Texas, so that he could enter
school there.
He married Marjorie Bates in
1947, in Lubbock. They were
blessed with four children, Patti,
Brian, Spencer and David.
Wayne was in the Navy amphibious
forces during WWII and
later was called back into the Naval
Reserves during the Korean
Conflict. His assignment involved
the hydrogen bomb trials
at Eniwetok atoll. He graduated
from Texas Tech University with
a baccalaureate degree and received
a master's degree from the
University of Northern Colorado.
He worked in the credit field for
13 years in Texas before moving to Palisade, Colorado, in 1965,
where he purchased peach and pear orchards. He eventually replanted
and owned 6700 trees in a high density planting of drip irrigated
peaches and plums. Wayne also worked as Business Manager
for a number of firms, the last being Palisade Irrigation District.
Wayne loved golf and particularly his golfing friends, even though
he had to work constantly on his game. He enjoyed traveling in later
years, fishing, hiking, and being with friends in a group called "Over
the Hill Gang". He was a great believer in exercising at the gym. He
and Marjorie always enjoyed visiting friends and family in Texas.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother; son, Spencer; grandsons,
James Tyler Bain and Zachary Bain. Survivors include his
wife of 64 years Marjorie; daughter, Patti (Dave) Ward; son, Brian
Bain, both of Grand Junction; son, David (Tracy) Bain of Palisade;
grandchildren, Dylan Bain, Bethany Feely, Cassandra Feely, Keegan
Bain, and Kali (Cory) Williams, and two great-grandchildren,
Owen Bain and Aiden Bain.
Services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Funeral Home. Viewing
will be 9:00 a.m. and the service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 14th.
Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Condolences

B. Wayne Bain, 84, Grand Junction, died May 7, 2012, at his
home.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with services at 10 a.m. Monday at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Interment will be at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bain was a business manager in the irrigation district.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Brian of Grand
Junction and David of Palisade; one daughter, Patti Ward of Grand
Junction; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
