George G. Morris of Delta,

the Delta County Memorial Hospital
in Delta, Colorado. He was
81 years of age.
A memorial service honoring
George's life will be held at 3:00
p.m., Monday, November 14,
2011 at the Taylor Funeral Service
Chapel in Delta, Colorado. Inurnment will take place at the
Veteran's Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction,
Colorado at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
George Gordon Morris was born on October 9, 1930 in Palatine,
Illinois to the late George Chester and Mary (James) Morris.
George spent his childhood in Palatine, Illinois, until age ten when
his father passed away. His family then moved to Ft. Collins, graduating
from Ft. Collins High School. After graduating high school, he
attended Colorado A & M now known as Colorado State University
receiving his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. George served in
Korea in the United States Army. After leaving the Army, George
joined the National Guard and attended Colorado University where
he graduated as a Pharmacist. He moved to Delta in 1958 and was
the owner/operator of Dunbar Rexall Drug Store for 30 years.
On May 19, 1962, he married Leora Thomas in Glenwood Springs,
Colorado. George was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Delta.
He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge, Delta County Historical
Society, and American Legion. He loved chemistry and was always
doing experiments. George was an avid collector; he also loved astronomy,
reading and was active in civil air patrol.
George is survived by his wife, Leora Morris of Delta, Colorado
and his son, Mike Morris and spouse, Crystal and twin grandsons,
Daniel George and Matthew Lyle, all of Grand Junction, Colorado;
two brothers, Thomas Morris and spouse, Gladys of Houston, Texas
and John Morris and spouse, Audrey of Mesa, Arizona; and several
nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents,
George and Mary Morris.
The family suggests memorial contributions to be made in George's
memory to the Delta County Historical Society, 251 Meeker, Delta,
Colorado 81416.
