Marguerite “Peggy” (Darcey) Hoffmann, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Wednesday June 6, 2012 in Southington, Conn. She was the wife of the late Goffred O. Hoffmann.

Peggy was born March 3, 1921 in Waterbury, Conn., the daughter of the late James H. and Margaret (Whelan) Darcey. She was a life-long resident of Cheshire, Conn.

Peggy met her husband Fred, on a blind date in 1944 while he was stationed in Florida during WWII and they married soon after. Their's was a never-ending love story. They worked closely together over the years in their business, Miniature Mansions of Cheshire, building custom homes in miniature for collectors. They loved to travel and their favorite vacation spot was Hawaii. After her husband's death in 2001, Peggy spent several months each year visiting her daughters and grandchildren in Vail. She was well known as a regular visitor at Mount of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vail, and loved to attend the Bravo Vail Valley Music Festival in the summers as well as productions at the Vilar Performing Arts Center.

Peggy is survived by her daughters Ghiqui Hoffmann and Nicole Hoffmann, and grandchildren Christian Ewing and Emily Ewing, of the Vail Valley. She is also survived by her son James Hoffmann (Christine), and grandchildren JD Hoffmann, Maggie Hoffmann, and Carrie Cucchi. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and her son, Peter, formerly of Vail, in 1995.

A Memorial Mass was held on Monday, June 11, at St. Bridget's Church in Cheshire, Conn.
