Helen C. Espinosa, 81, a resident of of Minturn since 1956, passed away July 20 in Aurora. She was born Sept. 17, 1930 in Fort Collins to Frank S. and Sophia (Salazar) Medina. She married Emedardo C. Espinosa on June 29, 1952 in San Luis, Colorado. They were married 60 years.
Helen was a member of the Minturn Seniors. She loved to dance, listen to music, play bingo, read and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to argue and win!
Helen is survived by her husband Emedardo of Minturn, sons Leonard and Mark Espinosa of Minturn, Charlie and wife Beatrice Espinosa of Aurora and Michael and wife Alyshia Espinosa of Aurora; daughter Lorraine and husband Freddie Medina of Alamosa; grandchildren Sam, Diana and Susie Medina, Gary and Andrew Espinosa; great grandchildren Lexi, Christopher, Orion, Haities and Gilbert and wife Linda Espinosa of Lewiston, Maine. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Louise Espinosa, brothers Frank, Donald and Andy, sisters Martha and Priscilla and great-grandsons Allen and Wyatt.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. July 26 at St. Patrick Parish Church in Minturn, with a Rosary to follow at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. , July 27 at St. Patrick Parish Church with Reverend Father Roger Lascelle as celebrant. Burial will be private. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
