Gary Gene Nestor, 59, of Gypsum passed away on July 14 at his home after a short battle with cancer.

Gary was born on Dec. 25, 1952, in Hugo to James and Dora Nestor. Gary was one of seven children. He grew up in Hugo where he attended school until he graduated in 1972.

On May 26, 1973, Gary married Linda Elliott of Karval. The two lived in Denver after they were married until 1979, when they moved to the Gypsum area in Eagle County.

On March 25, 1977, the couple welcomed twin girls, Amy and Alicia, into the family. On May 21, 1981, their son Corey joined the family.

Gary was an outdoorsman. He loved elk, deer and antelope hunting. Gary loved being around his family and hunting was a family event for them. Gary also had a passion for old cars. He spent most of his free time working on and restoring cars. He started the Bad Mountain Boys Car Club and put on the “Bad Mountain Boys Car Club Car Show” at Gypsum Daze for the past seven years. He loved to travel to car shows throughout the state, showing off his ‘66 Impala. His garage was his usual hangout and you could find him there with a new project or an idea for a new project. He enjoyed making antler and wood art, and building tables and chairs.

Gary spent a lot of time at the Skiles Ranch in Burns with his family and friends. He found it relaxing there with no cell phone service, no television and always something to do. Whether working on cabins, fixing fence or bailing hay, it was always a favorite place of his.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dora; brothers Charles and James; sister Betty; one daughter, Alicia; and nephew Jerry Olson.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter Amy (Sam) Boles of Burns; son Corey (Jody) Nestor of Gillette, Wyo.; brother Austin (Shirley) Nestor of Hugo; sisters Naomi (Bob) Olson of Yuma, Ariz., and Sue (Doug) Dreier of Buena Vista. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Samuel Boles, Bailee Boles, Hayden Boles, Westin Boles, Addison Nestor and Garrett Nestor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

His celebration of life memorial was held July 18 at the Gypsum Town Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family has set up an account to help cover the cost of his medical bills. Donations can be made to The Gary Nestor Benefit Account through Alpine Bank, P.O. Box 70, Eagle, Colo. 8163. For additional information regarding the memorial fund, call (970) 328-1666.
