Kay is survived by a son, Les
(Sharon) Sparks of Aurora; two
d a u g h t e r s , L i n d a ( R u d y )
Malesich, and Sandy (Terry)
Amsberry of Grand Junction; a
brother, Lee (Wilma) Erven of
Delta; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is
preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Leta Erven, and her infant
daughter, LaDonna Sparks.
Kay was a wonderful mother, keeping her children’s best interests
at heart. Making friends easily, she had an extensive circle of
friends. In her younger years, Kay enjoyed bowling, sewing, and pinochle.
A Christian, Kay regularly attended services at North East
Christian Church until her illness kept her confined to The Commons,
where she then attended services.
Born in Palisade on December 9, 1933, Kay was raised on a homestead
in Plateau Canyon. She attended grade school at Cameo and
graduated from Palisade High School in 1951. During her clerical
career, Kay worked at a variety of jobs. In 1963, she moved to
Leadville where she resided until 1983 when she moved to Denver
until she retired in 1999 and returned to the Valley.
Kay will be missed by friends and family.
Services will take place this morning, February 3, 2012, 10:00 a.m.
at Martin Mortuary, with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens
Cemetery.
