Pete Jack Daniels, 85,
Grand Junction, died Feb. 6,
2012, at Eagle Ridge of the
Grand Valley.
Services will be at 3 p.m.
Thursday at Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Mr. Daniels was an owner/
operator and fabricator.
Survivors include three sons,
Don and Dave, both of Grand
Junction, and Dan of Layton,
Utah; four grandchildren; and
two great-grandchildren.

He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska
on October 17, 1926, to
John Daniels and Katheryn Roth.
His parents separated when he
was young, so his grandad helped
raise him.
A t t h e a g e o f a b o u t 1 6 , h e
moved to Lynwood, Washington. He took many jobs there as a
young man to help his family. He went to work in the steel mill in
Bremerton, where he did fabrication, until he joined the Army. Upon
his discharge, he met and married Esther Wengel. From this union
three sons were born.
The family moved to Grand Junction in 1955, later moving to
Mack and owning and working a farm there, as well as working at
Standard Recap. Pete and Esther later divorced, and he moved to
Grand Junction, where he later met and married LaNez Elam.
Jack was owner and operator of Daniels Trucking, which he retired
from in the mid 1990’s. He had many interests and hobbies,
some of which were going to yard sales, fishing, traveling, dune
bugging, lapidary, and rock hounding. His biggest love, however,
was building and fabricating cars, trikes and motorcycles, which he
loved to ride.
He is survived by his three sons, Dan (Connie); Dave (Velma), and
Don (Fawn); four grandchildren, Cody Jo, Jake (Brianna), Tanna,
and Brittany, and two great-grandsons, Brayedin and Ryan, with one
on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaNez and daughter-in-law,
Annie.
A small service will be Thursday, February 9, at 3:00 p.m. at the
Veteran’s Cemetery.
