Dorothy Bernice Smith, known
to her many friends, as Dottie
passed away in her sleep at the
Hospice Care center on February
9.
Born November 20, 1931, she
lived on the western slope all of
her life and loved the beauty of
the mountains. Her father, William
E. Davis, her mother, Marie
Bopp Davis and brother, William Lee Davis precede her to heaven.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, K. Eldean Smith ”Smitty”;
son, Steven L. (Vangie) Robinson; her grandsons, Aaron and Sean,
and a great-grandson, Ryan all from Nevada; her step-daughter,
Cindy (Jim) Janecek; step-granddaughter, Nadine and step-grandson,
Wade.
Dorothy married Jack Robinson in Ouray in 1949, the marriage
ended in divorce. She married Eugene Churches, who passed in
1987. She married "Smitty" in 1989 and has lived in Grand Junction.
She loved to spend hours in her garden and was an accomplished
seamstress and quilter. She was an energetic and active woman who
appreciated all that life had to offer. She was a member of the Unity
Church of Grand Junction.
Funeral services are at Palisade Funeral Home February 12 at
10:00 a.m.
The family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative
care in lieu of flowers.
