grandmother and great grandmother
Rita Ann Miller, 80, of
Montrose, CO, passed away Feb.
8, 2012. She was born to John S.
L e i s e n a n d E l a n o r ( E i s c h e n )
Leisen in Kellogg, MN, and grew
up in southeastern Minnesota. She
graduated from St. Charles (MN)
High School in 1949. On June 6,
1950, she married Morris R. Miller, to whom she was married for 43
years, until his death on Dec. 30, 1993, at age 65.
Rita and Morris lived on a family farm near St. Charles, MN, until
the summer of 1965 when they moved to a small farm in Ouray
County, near Colona, and later to Montrose in the spring of 1981.
She spent most of her life as a homemaker.
Rita was a loving mother, devoted wife and trusted friend. Many of
her family members and friends gathered at her home in Montrose
for her 80th birthday celebration on July 2, 2011.
Rita was predeceased in death by her husband, Morris, her parents,
brothers Duffy Leisen and Bud Leisen, and by sisters Bernice Stark
and Leona Patzner.
Rita is survived by her six children: Dennis Miller of Winona,
MN.; Jan (Rick) Kuchler of Morrison, CO; Bob (Shelly) Miller of
Montrose, CO; Steve (Nicole) Miller of Anchorage, AK; Julie
(Miller) Drake of Grand Junction, CO; and Lori (Jim) Miller of
Montrose, CO; 15 grandchildren -- Jeffrey Miller, Staci (Kuchler)
Heath, Kristi (Kuchler) Cole, Sean Miller, Matt Miller, Dusty Carlisle,
Dillon Carlisle, Jeremy Murphy, Raji Antoine, Stephanie
Drake, Jordan Drake, Elijah Miller, Ellie Miller, Ariana Miller and
Devin Miller -- and one great grandchild, Audrina Heath; brother,
Joe Leisen, of St. Charles, MN; sisters Tootie (Leisen) Henshaw of
Arvada, CO; Dorothy (Leisen) Stoos of Rollingstone, MN; Joan
(Leisen) Gavin of Bossier City, LA; and Bonnie (Leisen) McMahan
of Brainerd, MN.
The visitation will be held at the Crippin Funeral Home chapel on
Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on
Thursday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Montrose.
Burial will follow at Dallas Park Cemetery in Ridgway, Colo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Montrose, Colo., or the Arthritis Foundation. We love
you and miss you.
