Michael William Sansbury age 59, passed away suddenly in Orlando. Michael grew up in Cincinnati and excelled at Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
His distinguished career included leadership positions with hotels and resorts worldwide included Carlton Hotel Johannesburg South Africa, Westin Copley Place Boston, Westin Resort Vail (currently Vail Cascade Resort), The Mirage, Las Vegas. Properties under his direction earned national acclaim for quality, creativity, and guest satisfaction. Industry awards included Resort Executive of the Year (2002) and CFHLA Hotelier of the Year (2000). He was also proud of the time he served as Administrative Officer at the White House Executive Residence.
Survived by his beloved daughter Tayler Sansbury, parents Harriet and Bill Sansbury, brother Tim Sansbury, sisters Joyce Quirk and Vicki Koppenhafer and Ann Humes Sansbury, his former wife and best friend.
Family will receive friends on 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 South Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, Fla. A memorial mass will follow at noon. Memorials may be made to the Michael W. Sansbury Scholarship at Cornell University, 607-592-0421.
