Angelo Victor ALPI was born March 1, 1924, in New York City's Greenwich Village.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, 110 Regiment, 28th Division. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He enjoyed boating, skiing and hiking. After a successful sales career, he moved to Colorado from New York and was one of the founding fathers of the town of Avon.
He served as Avon's first mayor from Aug. 15, 1978, to May 11, 1982. He retired from the property management business in 1990 and moved to Belfast, Maine, with his wife Alice.
He is survived by his wife Alice; eight children; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a younger brother, Edward.
