Janice Leigh Reed, 66, of Leadville since 1968, passed away on Friday in Frisco of a heart attack.
She was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa, to Morris Price and Geraldine Genevieve (Davis) Fadiga. During Janice's childhood, due to her parents career, she lived in 52 different places. She married Val H. Reed on Nov. 2, 1963 in Leadville.
Janice was the clerk of the Combined Courts of Summit County. She enjoyed bowling with her friends, knitting, sewing, crocheting and traveling and loved the company of her grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her daughters Jana Lou and husband Lee Chase, Jill and husband Jim Berthod; son Patrick Reed and girlfriend Cheryl Takacs and her son Rawn; grandchildren Krystal Lee Chase, Robert Price Chase and Harley Davis Chase; sister Jody Caswell and children Abbie and Grant; sisters-in-law Betty Bertroch and Jean Curry; brother-in-law Donald Reed; aunts Gretchin Fadiga and Donna Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law Chet and Myrna Reed, brothers-in-law Frank and Robert Reed and her grandson Jesse Lee Chase.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Bailey-Kent Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey-Kent Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Baker officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hills Cemetery in Gypsum at 1 p.m. Thursday, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity or to the American Heart Association, 1280 South Parker Road, Denver, CO 80231. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville is assisting the family with arrangements.
