BOBBIE BRUNS [sic.] KILLED IN A TRAIN WRECK.
A wreck between the first section of Denver & Rio Grande passenger train No. 1, west-bound, and an east bound light engine occurred in Brown's canon last Saturday evening. Casualties were as follows:
The dead: ROBERT BURNS, fireman on No. 1.
Injured: Sylvester WILLIAMS, engineer No. 1, ankle crushed & body bruised. Dave GORDON, fireman on light engine, sever cuts on scalp and face. Charles SCRIBNER, baggageman, bruises on arms and face. W. W. WENTWORTH, baggage helper, contusion right knee. Mrs. M. W. SMITH, Grand Junction, severe scalp wounds. N.B. WILLIAMS, porter on diner, contusion of left shoulder. C. H. TOMPSON, cook, contusion of right temple. J. J. FITZGERALD, cook, cuts on face and head.
Unknown woman, right arm sprained.
All of the enginemen are well-known at Minturn. Fireman BURNS who was killed being especially popular. He was married but a few months ago. The remains were shipped to his former home at Leavenworth, Kansas.
According to the Salida Mail of Tuesday, the responsibility for the collision had not yet been fixed. Engineer Jones was in charge of the light engine.
