Former Eagle resident Danny Jay Burr, 51, died Monday, Dec. 18, at his home outside of Kremmling, Colo.

He was born on Dec. 9, 1955 in Jefferson, Iowa; the son of Harold J. “Bud” and Peggy (Steen) Burr. The family moved to Eagle, where their children grew up. Dan graduated from Eagle Valley High School in 1974 and joined the U.S. Army. He served honorably for 6 1/2 years, attaining the rank of sergeant.

He married Yvonne R. Clobes on Dec. 18, 1982 in Fountain, Colo. He and Yvonne have two wonderful children, Erin and Cory. Dan was a much-loved husband and a proud father.

Dan was a heavy equipment mechanic for CDOT. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association; a member of Blue Valley Sportsman Club; a 4-H Shooting Sports Leader in Grand and Summit Counties; a State Instructor for 4-H Shooting Sports; and a Colorado Hunter Education Instructor.

He was also a Friends of NRA committee member; a member of the Blue Valley Sportsman Club Trap League and a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club. In addition to his dedication to shooting sports, he volunteered as the chairman of the Blue Valley Metropolitan District Board of Directors and enjoyed being a part-time activity bus driver for West Grand School District.

Dan’s hobbies included hunting, shooting sports, reloading, fixing things, reading, motorcycle riding and activities with his wife and children. He was a die-hard FORD man.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughter, Erin; son, Cory; mother, Peggy L. Burr; sister Vicki L. Garcia (Rudy); and many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Harold J. “Bud” Burr on Aug. 25.

Memorial services were held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kremmling on Dec. 22.

Former Eagle resident Danny Jay Burr, 51, died Monday at his home in Kremmling.

Danny was born Dec. 9, 1955, in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Harold J. “Bud” and Peggy (Steen) Burr. The Burr family moved to Eagle, where the children grew up.

Burr graduated from Eagle Valley High School in 1974 and attended Blair Business College. He served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of sergeant.

He married Yvonne R. Clobes on Dec. 18, 1982, in Fountain, Colo. They raised two children together, Erin and Cory. Burr was a heavy equipment mechanic for the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Danny was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a friends of National Rifle Association committee member, a hunting instructor, a member of Blue Valley Sportsman’s Club, a 4-H shooting sports leader in Grand and Summit counties, a state Instructor for 4-H shooting sports, chairman of Blue Valley Metropolitan District board of directors, and a part-time bus driver for West Grand School District.

Burr’s hobbies included hunting, muzzle loading, shooting sports, fixing things, reading and he was a die-hard Ford man, family members said.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne, his daughter Erin Burr, his son Cory Burr, his mother Peggy Burr and his sister Vicki L. Garcia. He was preceded in death by his father Harold J. “Bud” Burr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kremmling with Father John Murphy and Pastor Allen Pulliam officiating. Interment will be at Kremmling Cemetery.
