MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE. A motorcycle accident on Highway 131 near Bond took the life of a Sedalia, Colo. man and left another man injured, the Colorado State Patrol reported this week.
Joseph William BURR, Jr., 37, was pronounced dead at the scene Friday, July 21. Cause of death was a depressed skull fracture and broken neck.
Wayne Alan PETTIT, 34, Littleton, suffered a broken leg, broken shoulder and lacerations. He was taken to Valley View Hospital and transferred to Swedish Hospital in Denver.
The vehicle was headed northbound, two miles north of Bond,m at 11:45 p.m. The driver apparently lost control of the 1977 Yamaha M/C motorcycle while going around a right-hand curve, struck an embankment and slid about 100 feet down a mountainside before coming to rest 12 feet east of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad tracks.
The state patrol has not determined which man was driving the motorcycle.
Borh victims, who were wearing eye protection but no helmets, were thrown from the motorcycle. The vehicle was totaled.
