Emory "Skeeter" Hurd II, 69, of Buckeye, Arizona, formerly a
long-time resident of Pueblo, passed away April 16, 2012.
Skeeter was born January 23, 1943, in Stockton, CA, to Emory Sr.
and Lois Marie Williams-Splittstoesser. He moved to Arizona in
1995.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara, and two
sons, Emory Hurd III and Mark Vaughan (Natalie); one daughter,
Karen Hart (Kerry); his mother, Lois; his sister, Mara; nieces, Dee
and Hender and five grandchildren. Skeeter was preceded in death
by his son, Jason Stuart Hurd.
Skeeter is a graduate of Grand Junction High School in 1961 and
long-time service manager at Fuoco Motors, but spent most of his
adult life in Pueblo working for SoCo Lumber and owned a Pueblo
bar, Skeet's Retreat. He loved spending time with his wife, hunting,
deep sea fishing in Mexico and telling jokes. He honorably served in
the U.S. Air Force and was retired from the State of Arizona as a
corrections officer.
Memorial and Celebration of Life will take place in the courtyard
at Paonia Care and Rehabilitation on Saturday May 19, 2012, at
