Jimmye Royce Hoyt was born
o n Ma y 2 6 , 1 9 5 1 i n D e n v e r ,
Colorado to Royce and Margaret
(McKune) Hoyt. Jim passed away
on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at
home from complications of lung
cancer.
Jim grew up in Grand Junction,
Colorado living on Glade Park
and other areas in the valley. He
graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1969. After high
school, Jim entered the Apprentice pram for Operating Engineers
and was able to work side by side with his father.
Jim was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and best
friend to many. He enjoyed his craft as a Heavy Equipment Operator
and being a member of the I.U.O.E. Local #9 for 40 years. During
his years with the union he proudly held the position of Business
Agent for several years in the mid 80's through the mid 90's. He
made many friends around the country in his Union work and travels
that he kept in contact with and were considered friends to this
day. He was widely known and highly respected by his peers. Jim's
big joy in life was spending time with his family and friends, horses,
a good novel with a Budweiser. His gregarious laugh, wit, straight to
the point attitude, piercing blue eyes and full head of white hair, that
many were envious of, will be missed by all.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and grand-parents and survived
by his sons Derek (Sabrina) Hoyt, and Casey (Jessica) Hoyt;
Treece Howey his best-friend and significant other; ex-wife Ernestine
