Edith Rae Dougherty was born
on December 5, 1923, in LaJunta,
CO to James C. and Lodelia (Ellis)
Brenneman.
Edith spent her childhood in
Hunter and Rhone as well as
Fruita. She graduated from Fruita
Union High School.
Edith Rae married Jack Murphy
and was married until his passing;
she later married Wes Dougherty who also preceded her in death.
Edith Rae has been a resident of Fruita, CO for 60 years. She owned
and operated the Fruita dry cleaners and attended Gospel Way Baptist
Church in Grand Junction, CO.
Edith Rae is survived by her son, Wayne Jack Murphy of Meeker,
CO; daughters, Sandra Kay Redd of Sheridan, WY, and Linda Lunsford
of Grand Junction, CO; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren,
and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her daughter, Sharon Faye McFarland, and grandson, Robert
Wayne Brandon.
A funeral service is being held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at
10:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with burial following in Orchard
Mesa Cemetery.
