of Phoenix; five grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren.

Bette June Thompson passed

2012. She was born in Newton,
Kansas to Vern A. Young and
Helen (Haile) Young on February
2, 1926. She grew up in
Montrose, but lived mostly in
Grand Junction, and considered
Grand Junction her home.
Bette is survived by her son,
Vern E. (Jeri) Thompson, her
daughter, Carol Black; her sister,
Bonnie Maresh; her grandchild
r e n , C h r i s t i n e B a u g h m a n ,
Wendy Wallace, Kelley (Jason)
Renville, Daman Thompson, and
J a m i e V o n F e l d t ; a n d h e r
great-grandchildren, Corey, Scott,
Daman, Blake, Cailin, William,
Kyra, and Mitchell.
She is preceded in death by her
husband, Frank J. Thompson; her best friend and sister, Billie Burgess;
and her granddaughter, Tara Thompson.
Bette worked in the restaurant business for many years including
owning Dean’s Drive-In and a café on Orchard Mesa. She also
worked in retail sales. She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching
movies, and being with her family. Private services are planned.
