Elmer E, Gilder, of Tucson, Arizona, went to Heaven on February
15, 2012.
He was born June 19, 1922 in Otis, Colorado to his parents Arthur
Francis and Lodema Ruth Gilder. Elmer graduated from Hooper
High School in Hooper, Colorado and went on to receive his auctioneer
certificate from Mason City, Iowa. He was married to Allene
Colleen Woodring on March 18, 1951.
He is survived by three sons: Kenneth, Tucson, AZ; Floy
(Jananna), Nome, AK; Allen, Sierra Vista, AZ and two daughters:
Cynthia (John) Hall, Chatsworth, IL; Deborah (Dan) Richardson,
Hebron, KY, and 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one
sister Esther Seanor, Gothenburg, NE.
He served in the United States Air Force in the 244th Bomber
Squadron from 1942 to 1945. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Vets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one
sister, his spouse, one son and one grandson.
Elmer had such a big heart and always wanted to help others. His
last wish was to donate himself to research so that others would not
have to suffer as he did.
A memorials service will be held on March 17, 2012 at Manor
Baptist Church, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers the family requests
that donations be made to either Manor Baptist Church or the
American Diabetes Association.
