Inez Idella Butts, 91,
Grand Junction, died March 15,
2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Services will be at
10:30 a.m. today at Grand Junction
Church of Christ, with
burial at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters,
Evelyn Mae Barslund and
Charlotte Ann Bowhay, both of
Grand Junction; one brother,
Omer Ragsdale; four grandchild;
and four great-grandchildren.

Inez Idella (Ragsdale) Butts
went on to be with the Lord on
March 15, 2012. She was born to
Lissie Mae (McCormack) Ragsdale
and Floyd Franklin Ragsdale
on October 8, 1920, in Marshfield,
Missouri.
On December 13, 1936, she
married the love of her life, Arthur Marion Butts. He preceded her in
death on October 26, 1994. They had three children. In their early
years of marriage they moved wherever there was work and finally
made their home in Grand Junction, CO in 1948. They owned and
operated Butts Construction Company until Arthur's death.
Inez was an accomplished musician and played the guitar and sang
with her brother, Rags Ragsdale, for many decades. She was an
avid gardener and very proud of her lovely roses that lined the corner
of her home at 4th and Teller. She was an excellent seamstress
and enjoyed sewing, quilting and other handwork. She enjoyed
cooking for family and friends and her pastries were beyond compare.
Her passion was always taking care of her family. She loved
the Lord with all her heart and was a member of the Grand Junction
Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband; an infant child, Merceda
June Butts; her parents and sister, Jessie (Ragsdale) Dill. She is survived
by brother (Omer) Rags Ragsdale (Teresa); her daughters,
Evelyn Mae Barslund (Bill), Charlotte Bowhay; grandchildren,
Tammy Barslund, Todd Barslund (Kimberly), Leigh Poteat
(Stephen), Eric Bowhay (Kara); great-grandchildren, Brent
Barslund, Paul Bowhay, Siena Poteat and James Bowhay. Other
survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Grand Junction Church of Christ on
Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Orchard
Mesa Cemetery directly following the service. Donations may
be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Grand Junction.
