Jack G. Kohl, 86, Rifle, died
May 11, 2012, at Colorado State
Veterans Home in Rifle.
Services will take place at
1 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Survivors include two sons,
Steve of Colorado Springs and
Kent of Grand Junction; two
daughters, Kitsey Morris of
Fort Collins and Rebecca Kohl
of Granby; two brothers, Guy
Overy of York, Neb., and Ray
Overy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
eight grandchildren; and numerous

Jack G. Kohl passed away in
Rifle, CO. May 11, 2012, at the
Colorado State Veterans Home.
Jack was born to LaMoine and
Juanita (Marymee) Kohl in Ayr,
Nebraska October 3, 1925.
Jack served his country in the
United States Navy during World
War II. He was drafted in March
1944, and was honorably discharged
in April 1946. He served
aboard the aircraft carrier USS
Bismarck Sea. Days before the
invasion of Iwo Jima, in February
1945, multiple Japanese suicide
planes attacked and sank the
Bismarck Sea. After abandoning
ship, Jack survived 36 hours in
the sea before being rescued.
While on survivors leave, Jack
married Donna Llene Overy April
18, 1945. After finishing his service,
Jack and Donna began raising
their family of five children in Hastings, Nebraska. In 1961, they
moved the family to Cascade, Colorado.
He worked in the automotive sales industry for more than 30 years
where he was a successful salesman and business owner.
Jack moved to the Colorado State Veterans Home of Rifle from
Green Mountain Falls, CO, July, 2010.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughter, Linda
Morris, and brothers, Jean, Richard, and Neal.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Kay) of Colorado Springs,
CO; Kitsey Norris of Ft. Collins, CO; Kent (Francine) of Grand
Junction, CO, and Rebecca Kohl of Granby, CO; grandchildren, Jason
Kohl, Justin Kohl, Jeni Duhe, Joshua Morris, Zachary Morris,
Kyle Kohl, Bryce Kohl, and Jane Norris; brothers, Guy of York,
NE, and Ray of Cedar Rapids, IA; special nephews, John Kohl of
York, NE, and Jim Kohl of Ogallala, NE, and numerous nephews,
nieces and great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday May 18, 2012,
in Grand Junction, Colorado at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery,
2830 Riverside Pkwy.
