Donald Mallow Jr., 85, Grand Junction, died March 19, 2012, at
the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Mr. Mallow was a retired chief warrant officer with the U.S.
Army.
Survivors include two sons, Donald III and Jon, both of Grand
Junction; and three daughters, Sandra Keltner and Cynthia Mallow,
both of Grand Junction, and Susan Super of Belleuve, Wash.

Donald Mallow Jr. passed away
quietly at the Veterans Affairs
Medical Center on March 19,
2012. He was 85 years old.
Donald was born on January 20,
1927, to Don Benson Mallow and
E l i z a b e t h B l o n d e l l ( S h a v e r )
Mallow.
He was a retired Chief Warrant
Officer of the United States Army
with 20 years of service as, first a paratrooper, then a helicopter and
fixed wing pilot, test pilot, maintenance officer, and a flight instructor.
Donald received meritorious service commendations including the
Air Medal. He was among the US Army's helicopter pilots decorated
in the Rose Garden of the White House in 1956 for his participation
in the recovery operations after the collision of two commercial
airliners over the Grand Canyon National Park.
On April 6, 1949, he married Jean Louise Kent of Youngstown,
Ohio. She preceded him in death in 2004.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra L. Keltner, Grand Junction,
CO; Susan L. Super, Bellevue, WA; Cynthia L. Mallow, Grand
Junction, CO, his sons, Donald Mallow III and Jon K. Mallow, both
of Grand Junction, CO; as well as numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services on will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday,
March 22, 2012, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western
Colorado in Grand Junction, CO. Condolences for the family may
