Bette Laree Strain, 90, Clifton, died March 19, 2012, at Hospice
Care Center.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Mrs. Strain was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; three sons, Chris E.
of Clifton, Curtis of De Beque and Gordon of Tuscon, Ariz.; two
daughters, Glenda Simonson of Grand Junction and Vinita Biddle
of Denver; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.

The Lord granted rest to Bette Laree Strain on March 19, 2012.
The daughter of Harley E. Hagerman and Vinita Davis Hagerman,
Bette was born December 21, 1921 and grew up in the Mount Lincoln/
Palisade area. She graduated from Grand Junction High School
with the Class of 1939 and in October, eloped with the young school
bus driver, Charles A. Strain of Clifton. Lifelong residents of the
Grand Valley, Bette and Charles were married for 72 years. Family
was always Betteā€™s main concern and interest, but she also had
many friends, young and old. After raising her five children, she
worked for Mesa Manor where she was Activity Director until she
retired in 1983. Bette was a member of the Palisade Seventh-day
Adventist Church.
In addition to her husband, Charles, survivors include sons, Gordon
(Joni); Curtis (Linda), and Chris; daughters, Glenda Banks (Jim)
Simonson, and Vinita Biddle; grandchildren, Laree (Randy) Magnuson;
Scott (Audrey) Banks; Michael (Betsy) Banks; Stephanie (Ivan)
Larsen; Sterling Strain; Monica (Dennis) Nicol; Jessica (Jonathan)
Derksen; Brandie (Douglas) Clark; Jeremy (Stephanie) Strain, and
step-granddaughters, Jean Simonson, and Judi (Rick) Dinkle; 15
great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 22 at 12:00 p.m. at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the
mortuary. Burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand
Junction.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice
& Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B North 12th
Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
