Walter was born in Wheeler,
T e x a s t o Wa l t e r a n d L o u i s e
Wright. The family later moved to
Montrose, Colorado. Walter spent
his childhood in Montrose and
later joined the Navy. After leaving
the Navy, he moved to Grand
Junction, Colorado and married
Twila Hawkins (Wilds). Walter
worked at the Rio Grande Railroad
as a heavy-equipment operator, and as a conductor.
Walter is survived by three sisters, Janet Humphrees, Janelda
Orem, and Peggy Orsbee, and two brothers, Leroy and Claude
Wright. Walter is also survived by two daughters, Kay Parkhurst
(Joe), and Regina Williams; five grandchildren, Jeremy and John
Parkhurst, Melissa Rolbiecki, Sarah Miller and Cortney Williams;
seven great-grandchildren, Jason and Kaleb Miller, Maddy, Bradon,
and Riley Rolbiecki, as well as Jordan and Bryson Parkhurst. He is
preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Kelly and Lauren
Miller, as well as two brothers, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 27th. at 11:00
a.m., at Bethel Assembly of God, on 29th Road and Orchard .
Services are entrusted to Palisade Funeral Home of Palisade, Colorado.
