1928-2012. On March 22, 2012, Shirlee passed away at the age of 84 at her home in Fruita. Both [she and her husband] were longtime residents of Eagle and Gypsum and have been laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. March 31 at Fruita Christian Church.
Mrs. Gamble was a secretary.
Survivors include her husband, Roy “Jack”; two sons, Jerry of
Anchorage, Alaska and Monty of Venita, Calif.; one daughter, Cindy
of Fruita; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

On March 22, Shirlee passed
away at the age of 84, in the comfort
of her Fruita home with her
daughter by her side.
Shirlee was born and raised in
Sweetwater, CO and attended
school in Gypsum where her parents,
Carl and Doris Stewart
owned The Gypsum Store and Locker and the Gypsum Post Office.
She attended high school in Gypsum and Climax.
She married Roy “Jack” Gamble from Eagle, CO in 1949, in Gypsum
and together they moved to Denver to pursue their higher education.
Shirlee attended business school while Jack worked on his
Mechanical Engineering degree. In 1965, they moved to Anchorage,
Alaska with three children in tow where the family lived for 30
years.
Shirlee worked for the State of Alaska for 20 years and Jack
worked for Alascom for 25 years before they retired and moved
back to Colorado and settled in Fruita.
Shirlee leaves her husband of 62 years, her two sons, Jerry and
wife, Denise of Anchorage, Alaska; Monty and wife, Kelly of
Venita, OR, and her daughter, Cindy of Fruita, CO. She also leaves
five granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.
She will be fondly remembered for her kind, gentle and happy nature,
her exquisite ability for painting pictures, her fierce competiveness
at bowling and her beans and cornbread she served up every
Sunday without fail.
She will be cremated and laid to rest at the Veteran’s Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Fruita
Christian Church located at 208 N. Maple on Saturday March 31,
2012, at 11:00 a.m. which will be followed by a lunch in the dining
hall. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to Hospice and
Palliative Care for the wonderful work they do.
