John Earnest BURRIS, 82, a former resident of the Eagle Valley area, died Oct. 17 in Canon City.
Mr. BURRIS was born March 14, 1905, in Colton, Ohio, the son of Charles and Maggie Hellig BURRIS. He grew up in Ohio, spent his teen-age years in Colorado, then moved back to Ohio.
Mr. BURRIS was a miner at Gilman from 1939 to 1945 and again in 1956 to 1970 when he retired. He also farmed in the Gypsum area. After his retirement in 1970, the couple moved to Salida and later to Canon City. Mr. BURRIS enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors are two sons, Richard BURRIS, Gypsum, and Wayne BURRIS, Cedaredge; four grandsons, one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. BURRIS were Oct. 21 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Carbondale. [Incorrect: Mr. Burris is in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Gypsum.]
Farnum-Richardson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
