Mabel L. BURRIS, 73, a long-time resident of Minturn and Gypsum, died November 1 in Greeley.
Mrs. BURRIS was born April 1, 1907 in Beaver, Ohio to Charles and Edith Stir. She grew up and attended schools in Ohio. On August 11, 1928, she was married to John Burris. They came to the Gypsum community in 1942 and she had lived in the Greeley area for five years.
She was a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge in Gypsum and head of the school lunch program and president of the home demonstration club in Gypsum.
Survivors include her husband, John; two brothers, Adam STIR of Springfield, Ohio and Omer STIR of Clarktown, Ohio; three sisters, Mildred NAGELEISEN of McMermott, Ohio, Dorothy ADAMS of Beaver, Ohio and Sadie MERCER of Huntington, West Virginia; two sons, Wayne BURRIS of Eagle and Richard BURRIS of Gypsum; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held November 5 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum with the Rev. Steve Goodier officiating.
