FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GREG BURTON WILL BE AT EVHS, by Gail Cameron-Britt.
Funeral services will be held at the Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum early next week for Greg BURTON, 20, who died in a two-vehicle accident in Arizona on Thursday.
At press time, due to inclement weather in Arizona, family members stated that the funeral would be held either Monday or Tuesday at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jeff HANSON of the First Lutheran Church of Gypsum.
Graveside services will follow the funeral at the Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.
Burton's aunt, Lynda RUGGEBERG, said the Burton's Gypsum home was filled to overflowing with family and friends after hearing of the untimely death of the popular Gypsum youth. "It's just been amazing. He has such a wide circle of friends," she said.
Sister Staci BURTON added, "He was such a caring kid."
BURTON's companion the night of the accident was fellow Central Arizona College student Jim SEXTON, 21, of Globe, Arizona, who also died in the crash.
CAC president Dr. John KLEIN issued a statement on the death of the students on Friday.
"The Central Arizona College family is mourning the loss of these two active students. Our thoughts are with their families as we try to do whatever we can to help them through this devastating time."
Two separate memorial funds have been established. Friends of Greg BURTON can contribute to a family fund at Norwest Bank of Eagle, or to a rodeo scholarship, in his name, at the Strawberry Patch.
Greg BURTON is survived by his parents, Lisa and Dewain BURTON, sisters Tiffani and Staci, grandparents Bob and Shirley SHELTON of Eagle, Gareth and Clela BURTON of Kansas, and great-grandmother Thelma WILSON of Carbondale.
