Tim Sewell, 47, Grand Junction, died July 3, 2012, in Grand
Junction.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Colorado Mesa University,
South Ballroom (Room 239).
Survivors include his wife, Kari Sandberg Sewell; two daughters,
Kristina Sewell and Tia Sewell, both of Grand Junction; his parents,
Mike and Jean Sewell of Grand Junction; and one sister, Pam
Sewell of Denver.

Michael T. “Tim” Sewell, age
47, a Grand Junction resident,
was lost to suicide on July 3,
2012.

was a valedictorian of the Class of
1983 at Grand Junction High
School. He then graduated with
the distinction of being the “Outstanding Economics Student” from
the U.S. Air Force Academy and was fourth academically in his
class of over 1,000 with degrees in both business and economics.
Tim served with distinction in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years. After
completing pilot training, he flew F-16 fighter/bomber jets for
nine years and his assignments included 41 combat missions in Operation
Desert Storm, followed by numerous missions over Iraq patrolling
the no-fly zone.
After Tim finished his tour with the Air Force, he flew for United
Airlines for four years before joining A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc.,
where he worked as a Certified Financial Planner and Financial
Consultant. Wells Fargo Advisors ultimately acquired A.G. Edwards
in late 2008, and Tim continued working there until his death.
Tim enjoyed many activities including biking, hockey, and skiing,
excelling at all three. He had numerous volunteer activities including
helping coach his daughters’ soccer, ski, and lacrosse teams. He
was a member of the GJ Rotary Club.
Tim was a man of tremendous resolve and character. As exceptional
as he was in his accomplishments, he was also humble, generous,
kind, and engaging.
Tim is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kari; his daughters, Kristina
and Tia; his parents, and his sister, Pamela Sewell-Waggoner of
Westminster, Colorado.
A celebration of Tim’s life was held July 9, 2012, at the University
Center of Colorado Mesa University, honoring the life he lived.
