After moving to Vail, CO, Lyle was in charge of maintenance for
the condominium of President Gerald Ford. He was an usher at the
Christmas Eve church service at the Chapel in Vail attended by
President Ford and his family. He escorted President Ford to his seat

Later the family moved to Grand Junction where Lyle was in
charge of maintenance for Valley Federal Savings and Loan (now
Alpine Bank). After retiring from Valley Federal he served as an
attendant in their parking lot for several years.
Lyle loved to travel. He and his wife visited all 50 states - the last
one being the 50th state of Hawaii on their 50th wedding anniversary.
