MAN DIES IN ROLLOVER NEAR WOLCOTT EXIT.
A man died early Monday morning after the vehicle he was driving rolled off Interstate 70 near Wolcott.
Cody HERRMAN -- a 35-year-old from Westminster -- was driving westbound on I-70 near mile post 155. At about 3:30 a.m., HERRMAN lost control of his 2000 Volvo sedan on the icy roads and drove off the left side of the road, police said. The vehicle then rolled and came to rest in the westbound lanes of I-70.
HERRMAN did not appear to be wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the State Patrol. He was pronounced dead at Vail Valley Medical Center. Neither alcohol nor drugs are being considered as contributing factors at the time, police said. A 14-year-old male passenger was uninjured in the crash.
The westbound lanes of I-70 were closed for about an hour and a half for the investigation.
The Eagle Fire Protection District, the Western Eagle County Ambulance District, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado Department of Transportation responded to the scene along with the Colorado State Patrol.
