Diana Kay Clark Struve died in Boulder on Nov. 24.
Born Oct. 16, 1941, in Lander, Wyo., Diana moved to Boulder more than 30 years ago to be close to her passions of skiing and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Parents Ermal Kay Clark and Forster Henry Clark moved the family to Vallejo, Calif., where she spent her youth and made life-long friends including Mundee Walsh.
She was an R.N., an accomplished dancer, a horticulturist and a professional artist; her works sold in Boulder, Santa Fe and Taos. Her true calling was animal rescue, which including providing homes to numerous pets of all types. Her home in the mountains outside of Boulder was her inspiration and refuge, and she preferred to spend as much time as possible in the house that she helped design. True to her nature, it included a 400-square-foot botanical atrium, complete with waterfall, trees as large at 30 feet and many, many skylights, windows and plants, so she could be “outside” as much as possible. She always loved and supported her daughter Kirsten's figure skating career, including numerous trips “all over tarnation” for competitions and ice shows.
At her request, her ashes will be spread outside in the company of just a few people close to her, shortly before Christmas.
She is survived by her brother, Douglas Clark, of Longmont; daughter Kirsten Struve Texler, of Vail; and grandson Christopher Texler, also of Vail.
At her request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to no-kill animal shelters or other animal rescue/protection agencies.
