Clark resident William Ben Kemper passed away Dec. 5, 2011, at the Porter Hospice in Littleton. He was 75.
Born June 8, 1936, in Denver to Lynn and Betty (Baker) Kemper, Bill was an all-state football player at Denver East High School, attended Northwestern University in Chicago on a football scholarship and graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in accounting.
On Aug. 4, 1962, he married Carol Berney in Bettendorf, Iowa. Bill and Carol were together for more than 50 years and first made their home in Denver, where they had three sons. They also have called Evergreen and Clark home.
As a business professional, Bill had success in many different areas, most notably in real estate development, management and construction, as well as banking. He served as a director for a number of companies.
Aside from his family and friends, Bill had numerous passions. He traveled extensively, enjoyed hunting, crossword puzzles, mystery novels, playing squash and rooting for CU sports teams. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, Denver Athletic Club, Gyro Club and CU Buff Club.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Kaye Hyde Aden; and his brother Lynn Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons William (Angela), James and Thomas (Chrissy); grandson Van; and granddaughters Olivia and Julianna.
A private ceremony was held Dec. 9, 2011, at the T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home in Pueblo, and interment followed at Roselawn Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place at 5 p.m. Jan. 28, 2012, at the Glen Eden Restaurant in Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the William Kemper Memorial Fund has been established to support the Gold Crown Foundation Enrichment Program. Donations are being accepted at Steele Street Bank and Trust, 55 Adams St., Denver, CO 80206.
