Craig resident Carol Ann Allen passed away Jan. 22, 2012, at the Doak Walker Care Center after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 69.
Carol was born March 16, 1942, in Kremmling to Earl and Neava Johnson in the back of their home and business, The BlueBird Cafe. Carol was the youngest of three children. She was the apple of her parents’ eye, yet they were quick to learn that she had her own agenda. Pink frill and tea parties were her mother’s dream, which was vetoed for a more popular agenda of chaps, a hat, her six-shooters, baseball and fishing. She attended West Grand School District, graduating in 1960. During her senior year, she met and married Earnest Allen, of McCoy. Not long after, she welcomed Leni Lorraine Allen to the family. A second child was later to join, Daniel Earnest Allen.
Carol always was outdoorsy , loving what the next bend in the road had to offer. She enjoyed her grandchildren, all of whom knew “Grandma’s rules.” She also enjoyed her yard, photography, football and a variety of artwork, but mostly painting. She met and enjoyed many friends through her painting classes and art work exhibits. Carol was an amazing woman, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and, most of all, a true friend to those who knew her. Carol woke up every morning with a glimmer in her eye and the smile on her face saying, “What does God have for me today?”
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Dana Uncapher, of Kremmling.
She is survived by her brother, Edwin Johnson, of Grand Junction; her husband; her daughter, Leni Allen, of Craig; her son Dan Allen (Susann), of Phippsburg; her grandchildren, Tara (Ky) Cox, of Phippsburg, Brandon Allen, of Steamboat Springs, and Austin and Autumn Eaby, of Loveland; and her great-granddaughter Alyvia Cox.
A service was held at the Yampa Bible Church in Yampa, with a graveside service at the Yampa Cemetery. A luncheon followed at the Yampa Ladies Aid Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Shaw Cancer Center/Jack’s Place in Edwards.
