Don Cashen passed away Saturday,
May 26, 2012, at his home in
Montrose, CO, of a sudden cardiac
event at age 76.
He was born in Lincoln, NE, to
Raymond and Camilla Cashen on
Ma r c h 1 2 , 1 9 3 6 . H i s f a m i l y
moved to Denver in l953, where
he graduated from Denver East
High School. He studied law at
the University of Colorado, Boulder and graduated in 1959.
He met his wife, Genie Gates, while at law school. They were married
April 16, 1960, in Santa Monica, CA. They moved to Montrose,
where he practiced law for the last 52 years. He enjoyed outdoor activities
of all kinds, but he especially loved time spent in the local
mountains. He had a true passion for service to his family, friends,
clients and community. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club,
Montrose Hospital Ethics Committee and the CU Medical School
Board, and belonged to the Citizens Committee that formed the current
charter of the city of Montrose.
In addition to his wife Genie, he is survived by his children, Karen;
Kathy (Mark); Gregg (Christine), and Grant (Shari); ten grandchildren;
brother, Jerry (Glenda); nephew, Scott (Emily), and niece,
Kari.
He will be celebrated in a private family service on June 1, 2012.
