James Robert “Bob” Williams, 74, Grand Junction, died Nov.
28, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Private family services are planned at a later date.
Mr. Williams was a machinist in the skiing industry.
Survivors include three sons, Nick of Colorado, Andy of Tetonia,
Idaho, and Christin of Loveland; two daughters, Michele Mummert
and Nancy Rizzo, both of Grand Junction; one brother, Samuel of
Arizona; and five grandchildren.

James Robert “Bob” Williams died Wednesday.
Bob was born in Fort Collins to parents Samuel and Lucille Williams. Bob was a current resident of Grand Junction, and he passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at Saint Mary's Hospital at the age of 74. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gary and John.
Bob considered Vail his home, where he resided for 38 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and an extremely dedicated, fun-loving, family man. He is survived by his five children, Nick, Michele, Andy, Nancy and Christian; their spouses, Niki, Jon and Milissa; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Jasmine, Alyson, Autumn and Kate. He is also survived by his brother Sam.
While raising his children, he owned and operated three restaurants in Vail and later worked for many years as a machinist at Vail Associates and then was a driver for CME in Avon before deciding to enjoy his remaining years as a retiree.
Supported by a loving family, Bob led a full and adventurous life and enjoyed anything outdoors: soccer, skiing, camping, hiking and biking. He played soccer with a local masters team, and he helped support the women's team and was classified as “favorite fan.” Besides cheering loudly for his favorite soccer team, you could also find him quietly daydreaming at any classic car show. Extremely devoted to his family, Bob always made time to attend his children's many sporting events and activities or was simply just there to help.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Father’s Day weekend on June 15 at a personal residence located at 1916 W. Gore Creek Drive in Vail (right near the Ptarmigan bus stop) at 3 p.m. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow. We encourage everyone to share their fondest memories and salute all fathers.
