Daniel W. Eastman, 81, of Avon, died Nov. 30 in Bartlesville, Okla.

He was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Evanston, Ill., to William Henry Eastman and Ann (Wilson) Eastman.

He grew up and received his education in Evanston and graduated from high school there. He continued his education at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and the University of Chicago, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in geology in 1957 and his master's degree in geology (sedimentology) in 1959. Eastman served in the United States Coast Guard from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict, serving in the South Pacific.

He was married to Holly Alison Wilcox on March 15, 1957, at Evanston. They made their home in Evanston and later moved to Bartlesville with Eastman's employment with Phillips Petroleum Company. Eastman was active as a geologist with Phillips until his retirement in 1987 and then for another year as a contracted consultant. He enjoyed his retirement years between his homes in Bartlesville and Vail, where he was an active member of the Vail 50 Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville.

Survivors include his wife, Holly Eastman; sons William Wilcox Eastman, of Atlanta; daughters Holly Whistler, of West Jordan, Utah, and husband Rick, Dian Stogsdill, of Lawrence, Kan., and husband Jim, and Laura Lynn Renaud, of Saudi Arabia, and husband Jerry; sister Nancy Stiles, of Riverside, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

His parents and brothers Roger Eastman and William Eastman preceded him in death.

Services were held in Bartlesville. A memorial service will be held next summer in Avon.
