Kevin Roderick Kelly, 48, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 19 at his residence in Vail. He was born May 15, 1964, in Fort Kent, the youngest son of Paul and Joyce (Mertes) Kelly.
He graduated from Fort Kent Community High School during 1982 and obtained a bachelor's in social science from the University of Maine at Fort Kent in 1991. He was the sergeant-at-arms at the state House in Augusta for several sessions and had most recently been employed as snowmaking supervisor for Vail Resorts in Colorado, where he worked more than 20 years. Kevin loved the outdoors, especially skiing and camping with friends in Colorado and Utah. He traveled extensively, having visited Austria, Jamaica and Hawaii. He was a big man and had a big heart to boot. He had many close friends throughout the country who will miss him greatly.
In addition to his parents in Fort Kent, he is survived by five siblings, Paul and wife Margo (Bernier), of Lincoln, Pamela and husband Daniel Pelletier, of Belgrade, Daniel and wife Mary (Bouchard), of Falmouth, Charles and wife Ruth (Glime), of Gorham, and Mark and wife Ari (Kryskow), of Fort Kent, as well as six nephews and nine nieces, all of whom loved him very much.
Friends may call Jan. 4 at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the Daigle Funeral Home in Fort Kent. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St. Fort Kent, ME 04743. Spring burial will be held in the St. Louis Cemetery in Fort Kent on May 16. Those who wish may donate in Kevin's memory to Lonesome Pine Trails Inc., PO Box 372, Fort Kent, ME 04743. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
