DEATH OF WILLIAM FLYNN.
The funeral of William FLYNN, who died at the D.&R.G. hospital in Salida at 3:00 a.m. Friday, was held at the cemetery in Eagle last Sunday.
Mr. FLYNN had been struck on the shinn [sic.] with a railroad spike two weeks ago which caused a painful wound. He was taken to the hospital where blood poison gradually developed, causing his death.
He was a prominent figure as an employee on the D.&R.G. railroad, having served the company faithfully for seventeen years.
He came to this country when very young and as a trustworthy man, he could not be surpassed. Mr. FLYNN was born in Donerville, Cork county, Ireland, in 1859, and leaves to mourn his loss a wife and seven children residing at Sherwood.
At 1 o'clock Sunday, Father O'BEIGLEY began the reading of prayers for the dead at the Eagle cemetery where the remains were laid to rest. "He was our own ideal knight, who reverenced his conscience as his king; whose glory was redressing human wrongs; who spoke no slander, no; nor listened to it. We have lost him. He is gone. We know him now. All narrow jealousies are silent and we see him as he moved. With what sublime suppression of himself and with what hurts, and how tenderly through all his tract of years, wearing the white flowers of a blameless life."
