Sophia Kippes-Frank on October
14, 1937, in Olathe, CO. Kathy
passed away peacefully May 26,
2013, at Hospice Care Center in
Grand Junction, CO.
Kathy spent her early childhood
in Olathe until the family moved to Grand Junction, CO where she
remained the rest of her life. Kathy graduated from Grand Junction
High School in 1956. She was a long standing member of St.
Joseph's Catholic Church.
Kathy married Dean Galen Sharpe on June 8, 1957, in Grand Junction.
They had one son, Gordon. Kathy worked for approximately 45
years for Castings, Inc. as secretary/treasurer, as well as
secretary/treasurer for BESS Properties for numerous years. Kathy
was a Notary Public for many years, starting in the earlier years
when Notaries were bonded.
Kathy's interest were quite varied, she enjoyed camping, fishing,
gambling, traveling and football games. Kathy very rarely missed
her only grandson's baseball or football games. She kept a daily
journal of events for many years and was relied on for dates and
facts that could be found in her journals. Kathy was very talented
with her writing; she wrote poems for family and friends that had
passed before us which were used in memorial services, as well as a
number of interesting stories. Kathy was known for her "novels" every
year in family and friend's Christmas cards.
Kathy maintained many long friendships throughout her years; she
would help anyone in need and was a wonderful listener to every -
one. Her door was open to all. She is dearly missed by many people.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father and mother; her three
brothers, John, Robert “Buddy”, and Donnie Frank; also, T. Neal
Hiett who Kathy was a second Mom to.

Junction; sisters, Mary Ellen (Bob) Plute of Paonia, CO, and JoAnn,
(Paul) Wells of Grand Junction, and sister-in-law, Irene Frank of
Union City, CA. She was thought of as a second mom and grandma
to Mike, Rita, Travis and Hailey Hiett of Santa Clara, CA, and
Michael Galloway of Norfolk, VA. She leaves behind many beloved
nephews, nieces and friends.
