Dennis L. DeVries, age 84,
passed away May 20th, 2012, at
St. Mary's Hospital. There will be
a private family gathering at 3799
P i a z z a Wa y , G r a n d J u n c t i o n
Colorado, June 10th, noon to
3pm.
Dennis was born in Rockford,
Illinois to Louis DeVries and
Gunhild (Anderberg) DeVries.
Dennis and his sister, Ramona DeVries (Peterson), spent their childhood
with their parents in the Chicago/Rockford area. He served in
the Army at Ft. Dick, New Jersey 1946 -1947.
Dennis married Donna Ellis in 1948, worked as a carpenter and
built homes in the Rockford area. In 1962, he moved his family to
Northglenn, Colorado to start a new adventure as an owner/operator
of a McDonalds Franchise. He ran the restaurant for 18 years until
he retired. He continued to work with his son installing home solar
systems in the Denver Metro Area. In 1999 Dennis and his wife
moved to Grand Junction to enjoy retirement on the western slope.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Donna DeVries; one son,
Donn DeVries of Longmont, Colorado; two daughters, Denise
Liden of Noblesville, Indiana; Diana Cattarello of Grand Junction,
Colorado; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be
made to The First Church of the Nazarene, 2802 Patterson Road,
Grand Junction, Colorado 81506 and/or The First Presbyterian
Church, 3940 27 ~ Road, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506.
