DEATH OF FRED VILDA.
Fred VILDA, for years a citizen of Eagle county, died early Sunday morning in the home of Virginia SWAN in Leadville.
Mr. VILDA has made his home in Red Cliff off and on for many years and Friday he registered at the Delaware hotel in Leadville from Red Cliff. A few hours later he entered the place where he died and within a few minutes was seized with a sudden sickness, and before help could be summoned he was dead.
The Leadville Herald Democrat states that according to County Physician R. J. McDONALD, who held the autopsy, the specific cause of VILDA's death was exophthalmic goitre which might be termed acute dilation of the heart. VILDA had undergone an operation for a goitre sometime ago, however, the symptoms of teh disease, the protusion of the eyes and the effect of the heart, were present at the time of his death. The doctors stated that several conditions might have brot on his death and said that his liver was greatly enlarged, and that it had pushed his heart and lungs up into so small a place that breathing must have been very difficult.
VILDA was a member of Leadville Lodge No. 236, B.P.O.E. Elks. The funeral was held in Leadville Monday under the direction of the Elks order, and the remains were laid to rest in the Elks Rest in that city.
The deceased was a brother of Jos. VILDA, a rancher on Lake creek in this county.
