VAIL, Colorado — A longtime Vail police officer is being mourned after he was found dead at his home Wednesday.
Brad Baldwin was found dead after Eagle County Sheriff's Office responded to the home in Gypsum on a medical call.
The cause of death appears to be medically related and there is no indication of any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. The Eagle County Coroner's Office says the cause and manner of death will be determined when an autopsy is completed.
Baldwin's law enforcement career spanned nearly three decades, and he faithfully served the Vail community for more than 25 years.
Baldwin, 61, is survived by his wife, five children and 14 grandchildren. Information regarding funeral services will be released at a future date.

Remember the life, death and legacy of veteran Brad Baldwin.
Brad Baldwin, age 61, died at his home on Feb. 13 of a sudden heart attack.
Born April 5, 1951, in Deadwood, S.D., to William and Ruth Baldwin, Brad attended Hot Springs High School in Hot Springs, S.D.
Brad began his law enforcement career in Rapid City, S.D., in 1984. Brad relocated with his family in 1988 to Gypsum and continued his career as a police officer with the Vail Police Department. His duties with the town of Vail included patrolman, field training officer, hostage negotiator, and driving instructor. Officer Baldwin proudly served the Vail community for 25 years. He honorably served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. Brad was known for his sense of humor and his passion for helping others. He enjoyed pool, music, guitar, astronomy and, most importantly, family. Brad had exemplary integrity, humility and devotion as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, friend and colleague. He loved from deep in his heart and carried others close to the vest in all aspects of his life.
Brad is survived by wife of 32 years, Deb (Allender) Baldwin of Gypsum; children Sherri Baldwin of Grand Junction, Jeremy (Hannah) Baldwin of Savannah, Ga., Andrea “AJ” Baldwin, Shaun (Brenda) Baldwin, Alicia Baldwin, Keegan Baldwin and Kylee Giles, of Gypsum, as well as 12 additional grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Jan (Teresa) Baldwin, of Canton, Ga., Alan (Barb) Baldwin of Savage, Minn.; brother-in-laws Steve (Shirley) Allender of Rapid City, S.D., and Dennis (Melanie) Allender of Spearfish, S.D.; six nieces and two nephews; his special cousins Sally (Jim) Seward, Elza (Morris) Blocher, and numerous other cousins, family and friends, all of whom Brad loved so much.
As stated by his son Shaun, “I love you so much! You will always be in my heart. I hope you travel the universe now like you always wanted to.” When we look to the stars, to the heavens, we will know that Brad has found his true home and eternal peace. He will always be in the hearts of all that loved him.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held for Officer Brad Baldwin at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Vail Mountain School auditorium, located at 3000 Booth Falls Road in Vail. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the service to recognize Officer Baldwin's well known presence and dedication to the community. Pallbearers will be fellow officers of the Vail Police Department.
Burial services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery located at 20901 Pleasant Valley Drive in Sturgis, S.D.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made out to the Brad Baldwin Law Enforcement Education Scholarship. The scholarship will be used to assist students aspiring to pursue a law enforcement career within Eagle County.
