Charles S. McAnally passed away Jan. 30 in Celina, Texas, after a long illness.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1933, in Albuquerque, N.M. Charles spent most of his younger years in New Mexico and Colorado. He attended Eagle High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served a minority cruise. When he was released from the Navy in 1954, he enrolled in Denver University as an accounting major and graduated with high honors.

Although he worked as a student assistant in the accounting lab at DU and also worked part-time for various accounting firms in Denver, his first permanent job in accounting was with Arthur Anderson in Chicago where he met and married his wife, Dollie. After becoming a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois, he returned to Denver and worked with another national accounting firm, Alexander Grand.

One of Charles' client, Denver Chicago Trucking, hired him as Chief Financial officer and he left Alexander Grand and stared his career as a trucking company executive. He served as a financial officer or president for several truck companies, including IML in Salt Lake City, Herman Brothers in Omaha and Chemical Express in Dallas.

He was preceded in death by is wife, Dollie, who passed away in 1996. He is survived by five children: John, Peter, Andrew, Cheryl and Jennifer. He also is survived by his bother, James. He was buried in McKinney, Texas, in a plot next to his wife.
