Arlene M. Sugar, 76, died unexpectedly May 12, 2012, at the MidMichigan Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 26, 1935, in Midland, Mich., to the late Edward J. and Mae A. (Carrigan) McNett. She married Russell E. Sugar in Midland on Sept. 11, 1954. She was a para-pro at H.H. Dow High School until her retirement in 1991.
She was a loyal member of the Homer United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, Hands of Hope, United Methodist Women and Church Women United. She followed her husband, children and her grandchildren in their sports everywhere they went. She was a very devoted wife, mother and best friend to anyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Russ; daughters and sons-in-law Maribeth (Brian) Len, of Steamboat Springs, Lisa (Dave) Smith, of Midland, and Jeff Sugar and Karen Sugar, of Farmington Hills; grandchildren Andrea (Justin) Lewis, Alexis Len, Alex (Leanne) Sugar, and Christian and Mitchell Smith; and great-grandson Brayden Sugar. Arlene will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan A. Sugar.
Funeral services were held May 16, 2012, at Homer United Methodist Church with Pastor David G. Mulder officiating. Burial followed in Midland Memorial Gardens.
