Gustave Alfred Youngberg Jr., 81 died Saturday evening March 30, 2002 in the Grand Junction Veterans Medical Center from complications of recurring cancer.

He was a resident of Eagle from 1989 to 1998 and a Glenwood Springs resident from 1989 until 1999. He was born in Salt Lake City , Utah to Gustave and Margaret Youngberg.

He was World War II veteran and wasw stationed in Africa until his honorable discharge. He was awarded the Victory Medal, EAME Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and was Sgt. First Class assigned to technical and supply. He worked as a sheet metal worker until his retirement.

He was a loving father and grandfather to all of his children. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed horses and being with his family.

Survivors include daughter Margaret Fay Ward of Eagle; granddaughter Shasta Lynn Peterson; and two great grand-children, all of New Castle; Brother Carle of Salt Lake City and Alma Anderson of Taylorsville, Utah, Shirley Souders of La Brea, Calif.

Graveside services will be at Eagle Cemetery, in Eagle today, April 4, 2002 at 1:30 p.m.
