Mildred Frances Hamilton was
born at Sligo, Colorado on the dry
lands of eastern Colorado December
9, 1919. Her parents are
Frank J. Hamilton and Lillie J.
Browning Hamilton. Mildred
spent her childhood in Cheyenne,
graduating from Cheyenne High
School in 1938. On April 6, 1940,
she married Everette Young in
Cheyenne. Everette and Mildred were blessed with three daughters,
Judy, Janet and Linda.
Everette and Mildred moved their family to Colorado in 1948.
They lived in Rifle, Grand Valley and Grand Junction until moving
to Arizona in 1997. Mildred was active in Mother's club and as a
band parent supporting the band at Central High School. She gave
many hours of service to both as well as serving and attending the
Clifton Christian Church. Mildred spent a lot of time working with
the youth of the church. She was always ready to chaperone a trip
either for church or school.
Mildred belonged to the Grand Junction Embroiders Guild and
made many beautiful quilts, wall plaques and gifts for her family
and friends. Mildred was a force behind establishing a museum in
Grand Junction, Colorado. She also worked for several flower shops
and at other retail places.
Mildred and Everette moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1997, where she
enjoyed her large family. In the last six and one half years she has
made her home with Ken and Karen Cole and their children.
Mildred loved to travel and was able to visit wonderful places such
as Hawaii, Alaska, and the New England states in the fall. She loved
to visit Colorado and was able to go to Jan and Dave's home in
Montrose on several occasions.
Mildred passed away on November 14, 2011, and was preceded in
death by her husband.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy and her husband, Patrick
Naughton; Janet and her husband, Dave Flory, and Linda and her
husband, Jerry Grubbs. Mildred has seven grandchildren, Larry
Grubbs, Natalie Collins, Bret Drury, Kelly Naughton, Karen Cole,
Dean Naughton, and Ryan Naughton. Mildred has 18 great-grandchildren
and five great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held June 16, 2012, at the Orchard
Mesa Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
