Harold “Hal” Scott, 80, Grand Junction, died June 10, 2012, at
the Veterans Affairs Community Living Center.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Mr. Scott was an insurance claims manager.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen of Grand Junction; one son,
Steve of Colorado Springs; and one daughter, Susan Scott of Grand
Junction.

Harold "Hal" Scott, 80, of Grand
Junction, CO, died in the Veterans
Hospital Sunday, June 10,
2012.
The funeral will be held at the
V e t e r a n s C eme t e r y i n G r a n d
Junction, CO on Thursday June
14, at 3:00 p.m.
Hal was born on January 15,
1932, to Harold and Katherine
Vaughn Scott in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated from Colorado
State University in 1954. He then entered the Army and while
stationed at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, AL, he met his wife Gwen
Holcombe of Birmingham, AL and married in April 1956.
Hal ended his Army career as Captain in 1961. He worked most of
his life as a Claims Supervisor for CIGNA Insurance CO., retiring in
1987. Hal and Gwen raised their family in Birmingham, AL. After
retiring they sold their home and lived in a R.V. traveling full-time
for six years in the US, Canada, and Northern Mexico. They eventually
settled in Grand Junction, CO.
Many years were spent volunteering at the VA Hospital and St.
Mary's Hospital. Hal and Gwen later moved into the Fountains Assisted
Living Cottages.
Hal loved spending time with his family at their lake cabin on Lay
Lake, AL. His hobbies were fishing, gardening, and photography.
He enjoyed conversing and joking with friends. He was a member of
the First United Methodist Church of Grand Junction.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hal Scott Sr. and Katherine
Vaughn Scott, and his brother, William "Billy" Scott who died in
Japan in 1963.
Hal is survived by his wife, Gwen Holcombe Scott; daughter, Susan
Scott and son, Steve Scott.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Western Colorado or the
American Cancer Society.
