Hazel N. Ball, 78, Grand Junction, died June 13, 2012, at her
home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ball was an electronics assembler.
Survivors include her husband, Willis; one son, Ray of Grand
Junction; two daughters, Linda Byers of Clarksville, Ark., and
Shirley Zabawa of Arvada; five sisters, Marie Brueggemeyer of
Lakewood, Vera Wakley of Everett, Wash., Julia Gill of Logan,
Utah, Evelyn Hall of Hemet, Calif., and Rosanne Key of Palisade;
eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.

Hazel N. Ball passed away June
13, 2012, at her home after an illness,
she was 78.
Hazel was born on October 14,
1933, in Grand Junction from the
union of Clyde and Irma Hooker.
Hazel was the thirteenth of fourteen
children born to the family
and spent her childhood in Grand
Junction and attended Grand
Junction High School.
She met Willis Ball at a dance and they later married on November
14, 1949, at White Hall in Grand Junction. Hazel and Willis
lived in Moab, UT for ten years and returned to Grand Junction. Hazel
was a member of the Presbyterian Church and later joined the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of
the Eagles Lodge and liked working on crossword puzzles and word
find. She loved dancing and crafts of all kinds from needle point,
crocheting and was exceptional at Hardanger embroidery. Hazel and
Willis also spent time together woodworking. Family members will
always remember Hazel calling the grandchildren "Wingnuts" for
their goofy behavior or laying them down for naps and reminding
them that there was a ghost in her jewelry box.
Hazel leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Willis L. Ball of the
home; a son, Ray and Susie Ball of Grand Junction; a daughter,
Linda Byers of Clarksville, AR, and step-daughter, Shirley Zabawa
of Arvada, CO; five sisters, Marie Brueggemeyer of Lakewood, CO;
Vera Wakley of Everett, WA; Julia Gill of Logan, UT; Evelyn Hall
of Hemet, CA, and Rosanne Key of Palisade, CO; eight grandchildren,
eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and
Sassie (Precious) her ever faithful Schnauzer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl, Merle,
Emery, Jack and Charlie, and sisters, Frances, Lois and Lola.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 18,
2012, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
